Abstract
The “tavern space “as a type of scene is widely present in literary works. Reviewing the writing of “tavern space” in the history of Western and Chinese literature, it is clear that it has undergone a transformation from “overt storytelling narrative place - story occurrence place - story essence place - covert storytelling narrative place”. The “tavern space” is constructed from a physical space centered on “atmosphere” and a spiritual cultural space centered on “story”. The carnival-like dissolution of life in tavern spaces, the foreign-related paralysis, and the reconstruction of hope make it an indispensable part of literary space.
